A Great Night Out Entertaining

It was one of those winter nights where we all had to wear puffer jackets or coats and scarves to ward off the chill factor.

Cars with enthusiastic improv players arrived at the venue and bodies tumbled out and raced to get inside to the warmth.

It was only our voices and hilarity that needed a bit of exercise during the pre-show games and then it was off to the stage area where our emcee Melissa was tasked with warming up the crowd. She did an exceptional job because by the time the players arrived on stage the applause was decent, to say the least.

The games rolled on with fine wit and quick thinking. Kevin was outstanding with his A.B.Cs and Neil was very brave to be a wide-awake patient on the operating table while Kathy and Sally were the Helping Hands to Doctors Kristina and Kelly. When the chainsaw came out the audience roared with laughter.

A quick-fire game of Props had the two teams inventing ingenious uses for the exceptionally good items we had been given. The audience found new ways to use a croquet hoop and didn’t realise they had the largest amount of smokable grass right there in their midst.

Kelly absolutely nailed her signing ability in the Sign Language Interview game as the BBC interviewer, Woody Spitt (Kevin) posed excellent questions to Professor Tiny Dick (Brett) who preferred to be called Tiny but Dick prevailed. The laughter was magic from both the audience and the players who could also see and hear the performance.

Our newest members, Kathy and Melanie, brought out some absolute pearlers and sealed their spot within the Honest Liars troupe.

No-one walked out and we even got our first-ever standing ovation – now that’s an achievement.

The de-brief afterwards in the bar was a time to pat ourselves on the back for an incredibly successful and fun night out.
