May The Fourth Be With You.

May The Fourth Be With You.

A Star Wars theme, and although there weren’t many references made other than right at the show’s start, Kathy (Emcee) began with “May the Fourth Be With You!”.

That’s right. The nod to the famous show was sprinkled around the games during the night, beginning when the players arrived and started chatting and continuing with the warm-up games. All players were on fire and looking forward to another packed house with loads of belly laughs.

The Honest Liars ran onto the stage, and the show proper began. The warm-up game was ‘Sex with me is like’, and behold, someone actually shouted out the suggestion of Star Wars! And so there were all sorts of ideas:

“Sex with me is like Star Wars – long and blue”.

“Sex with me is like Star Wars – an old guy breathing heavily”.

“Sex with me is like Star Wars – too long and I get bored”.

But the clincher was:

“Sex with me is like Star Wars – Hans Solo appears a lot”.

With both the plays and the audience warmed up, it was time to get into the games and a crowd favourite – ‘Pocket Note’. The scene was set in a Death Star space station’s canteen – enough said! Watch a wee snippet from the game.

The next game was ‘The Returns Desk.’ Three players left the room while the audience gave ideas for what they could be returning and what was wrong with the item.

It turned out that Sue had a glass shoelace, Sally returned a pasta machine because it opened a portal into a gluten-free world, and finally, Ryan’s large object was a Pak’ n Sav with Zombie staff. Needless to say, Ryan had difficulty bringing his object to the desk but guessed quite quickly, especially after Jon suggested the staff would like the meat week.

Sue had tried to put cheese into her item, thinking it could have been a trap, which got her up onto the chair. It took her a while to get that her object was a glass shoelace, but she did in the end.

In the second half of the show, the warm-up game was called ‘Objections’. This game was about people who don’t turn their car lights on. There were plenty of arguments, including “smashed headlights” and “police officers eat doughnuts,” until it ended in a chaotic mess as the players vied to get their objections heard.

A new game was introduced, and Jon sat at a typewriter tapping out his novel—the title of which had come from the audience—an erotic novel called “You, Me and Everybody.”

The story began with a shepherdess from Austria, and by the time it had finished, there were sheep, strudel, a large spoon and a collection of sugar vases.

A few more games followed, and then the finale of ‘Themed Restaurant’, the theme of which was Dracula. A lot of blood and bats were served. Two members of the audience were brave enough to dine in this restaurant and be part of the plot, even sucking the blood of one poor man and exposing their necks!

It was the end of another great, full house show, and after a bit of a wind-down in the bar, the players wandered home with May the Fourth Be With You ringing in their heads.
